The Jasper Story
For many remote applications, power is the last thing anyone thinks about. “Oh yeah, power… we’ll get some solar panels and maybe put a generator on site.”
For years, we spent much of our time responding to power problems after hours and for days at a time, in the cold, far from infrastructure or staff. We kept seeing the same theme across systems: each of these problems could have been avoided. We have seen thousands of mistakes (we have even made a few ourselves) and helped find a resolution for them.
Then we made the connection. What if we could combine all of those insights for an off-grid site in one place, use them to find each of these problems, and help customers be proactive about their power instead of reactive?
As soon as a system is built, everything in it starts to degrade: the batteries, the panels, the inverters. Something is going to go out in the near future.
We find that many operators don’t know how much power they actually need, or how much they are producing. They go by the manufacturer’s posted specs, which were tested in a lab, sometimes under ideal conditions, not the way the equipment is actually used in the field. We find a 15 to 35% difference between a site’s theoretical power needs and what it actually needs. We strive to provide the most accurate readings and information on what is actually happening on the power side.
Our customers have more important things to focus on in their business than keeping multiple remote power sites alive and working.
